Between 1733 and 1735 a castle or fort was built called San José from which the town received its name. During the war of independence it was destroyed and all that remained were its boundries. In 1960 a Guardia Civil barracks was built on its ruins and is still in use to this day.
There is plenty to do in San José, diving, kayaking, photography experiences, wildlife watching, geological field trips, and hiking.

Just used Beniconnect for the first time for an airport transfer from Alicante to Benidorm & RTN. Excellent service from the receptionist at the airport desk giving us details on where to find the minibus and for the RTN journey the driver arrived bank on time for our journey back to the airport. Booked an accessible vehicle to take us to and from our hotel, as my wife uses an electric wheelchair. The drivers we had were both really nice and helpful. Made sure the lady was safe and comfortable. They also put English music on the radio via a USB stick. Would definitely recommend.
With two teenage children, a silly o’clock in the morning flight and a bundle of luggage, we didn’t fancy buses, trains and more buses to get to our holiday flat in Denia from Alicante airport so I prebooked a taxi from Beniconnect. It wasn’t cheap, 125€, but we got a spacious air conditioned vehicle with a very courteous and friendly driver Enrique who took us quickly and safely to our destination.
