It is the birthplace of two popes, Callixtus III and Alexander VI. It suffered a dark moment in its history at the hands of Philip V of Spain, who, after his victory at the Battle of Almansa during the War of the Spanish Succession, had the city besieged then ordered it to be burned and renamed San Felipe. In memory of the insult, the portrait of the monarch hangs upside down in the local museum of l'Almodí.
Xàtiva’s castle, which clasps to the summit of a double-peaked hill overlooking the old town, offers sensational views. You’ll find flower gardens , tumbledown turrets, towers and other buildings, such as dungeons and a pretty Gothic chapel.
Take the Calle Corretgeria staircase down to the beautiful market square area. Calle Montcada is another interesting area where building facades are decorated with coats of arms, honouring noble families.

We use beniconect all the time the express that is a little more expensive but you know there is ever only 4 drop offs or pickups taking you straight to or from the airport help you with your bags pleasant drivers most speak a little English so that helps would recommend them to anyone

Booked online via there website by card 5 days before we were due to leave whilst staying at our resort in Villajoyosa for our transport to Alicante airport - our pick up point was at `Hotel Allon` some 500 yards away from our apartment (which was great) - the express shuttle bus was on time + had music and aircon = for 16 euros per person (one way trip) = good value. Tip;- when booking - give them as much info as possible - like baggage length/weight, your actual flight times & flight number + time you would prefer to be at the airport to avoid any mishaps/communication issues = easy trouble free service to use.

Booked return private coach transfer from airport to Villa. New modern coach with AC, free WiFi and USB charging ports. Coach ready at airport, no waiting around and on return collected on time. Both drivers were very courteous and helpful. Took the stress out of the transfer. We use again, highly recommend.

I used this service after researching reviews on the internet and have to admit the service was first class. I flew into Alicante late at night and Beniconnect was there as promised. On the website there are numerous options you can choose from. I chose the cheapest for my family and I. The mode of transport was a small 15 seater bus with air con and WiFi. Beniconnect were a lot cheaper than paying for transfers via the flight company or the holiday company I booked with. I booked online and when the confirmation email came, attached was a booking reference number with clear instructions on how to find their desk. On arrival, an helpful lady was waiting at the desk and allocated us our bus. We waited for about 10 minuets, the driver loaded the bags in the back and then we were on our way, taken straight to our hotel, which luckily for us was one of the scheduled drop off points. The return to the airport couldn’t have been simpler. Again, I was on a late flight. I received an email 24 hours before giving me instructions on when the bus was arriving and that I should be at the pick up point 10 minutes before the scheduled time. Beniconnect even sent an email to the hotel who pinned it up on their departure board. On the return, I literally fell out of the hotel and on to the bus. Again, air con and WiFi to keeps the kids occupied. One hour later we arrived at the airport right in front of the departure lounge. If you’re going to Benidorm, I can’t stress enough how professional these guys are in getting to the town.
Booked ‘speedy shuttle’ for our return journey home by website and everything ran smoothly. The web site is simple and easy to navigate and includes every Benidorm hotel advising of pick up point in advance. The transfer cost 30€ for both of us and it was money well spent. Received an email the day before telling us where the pick up point was and what time. It said arrive 10mins before and as we arrived so did the mini bus, the driver was friendly and helpful and the bus spotless. We only stopped once and then had a hassle free journey to the airport. Can not recommend enough - I’ll always use 100% in the future. Thank you
